Sunday, June 24, 2012, Seattle hosted the annual Pride Parade where a plethora of people gathered in celebration of sexual orientation, gender identity, and gay rights. Although many parts in the United States is still very far from what we call an "Equal Opportunities" country, gay and straight Americans can still enjoy the freedom to express openly in this annual event of self-love here in the Pacific Northwest.
Earlier this year, February 13, 2012, Washington State Governor Chris Gregoire signed a bill legalizing gay marriage. It was a momentous day in Washington paralleling the gay marriage bill in New York last year. You can read about it on the Seattle PI website (http://www.seattlepi.com/local/connelly/article/Make-History-Gregoire-signs-same-sex-marriage-3312315.php).
Last month President Barack Obama openly admitted that he endorsed gay marriage and supported it. Seems as though the push for equal rights and opportunities might not be so distant in the future after all.
Peace, love and good vibes to all the fellow dreamers out there
J.
